Discover Jordan's major biblical sites on a private day trip with a guide!
Starting in Amman, you will travel along the Kings' Highway, which passes through some of Jordan's most beautiful landscapes. Your first stop will be Madaba, one of the country's main cities. You'll appreciate its warm atmosphere and feel its rich history as you admire the architecture. Accompanied by your guide, you will learn more about the many castles and churches that shape the city. Nicknamed the "city of mosaics", Madaba will offer you the opportunity to discover many works, such as the Madaba Mosaic Map, the oldest cartographic representation of Jerusalem in the world.
You will then take the road to Mount Nebo, a peak culminating at 817 m above sea level that offers exceptional panoramic views of the surrounding valley. This promontory, reputed to be the place from which Moses contemplated the Promised Land before breathing his last, is still a place of pilgrimage today.
Finally, you will move closer to the east bank of the Jordan to reach Bethany-beyond-the-Jordan, reputed to be where Jesus Christ was baptised. A walk around this UNESCO World Heritage site, also known as Al Maghtas, will give you a sense of its soothing atmosphere and its biblical significance. Still accompanied by your guide, you will tour the pools, churches, chapels and monastery that make up the site.
At the end of the day, your driver will take you back to your hotel in Amman.
