Discover the Montserrat massif and visit its monastery accompanied by a guide!
You'll meet your guide in the center of Barcelona before setting off on a day trip to Montserrat, Catalonia's most emblematic mountain.
Located just a few kilometers from Barcelona, this rocky chain of multiple needle-like peaks surprises and captivates with its beauty. Even more spectacular is the Benedictine monastery overlooking the massif, which has become a place of pilgrimage. It houses the famous Moreneta, the patron saint of Catalonia, and is visited by thousands of faithful and curious visitors every year.
You'll visit the monastery, built in the 10th century and still in operation, accompanied by your guide. He'll tell you all about the history of this place and the lives of the monks who still live there. You'll also visit the Basilica of Santa Maria de Montserrat, after which you can discover theMoreneta on your own (optional extra).
You'll then board the Sant Joan funicular to the top of the mountain to begin your hike. You'll be able to admire the local flora and fauna and enjoy superb views of the natural park. You'll discover how nature and the spirituality of the place are intimately linked.
After the effort, the comfort! Once the hike is over, you'll enjoy a typical Catalan pastry the "coca de Montserrat".
Finally, you'll have some free time to admire the views over the valley before heading back to Barcelona in the late afternoon.
