Discover Tiananmen Square, The Forbidden City and The Summer Palace during this private tour with a French guide!
You will start your day discovering the famous Tiananmen Square, one of the biggest squares in the world and a symbol of the new China. In fact, it owes its reputation to several events which took place there in China’s history, including changing of governments.
Then visit The Forbidden City, also called the Imperial Palace by the Chinese. This palace, built between 1406 and 1420 is spread over more than 72 hectares and is one of the most beautiful palaces in China. You will also come across the Beijing Palace Museum, where you can discover incredible sculptures in jade and golden stupas.
You will then have lunch in a local restaurant.
At the start of the afternoon, you will have the choice between 2 different monuments: The Temple of Heaven or The Summer Palace (choose when booking).
The Temple of Heaven was built in the first half of the 15th century, and is composed of buildings dedicated to worship, situated in the gardens. Its existence, like that of each building, symbolises the link between the sky and the ground, in other words between the human world and the divine world.
The Summer Palace was built in 1750 and today is one of the works of art of China’s landscape gardens. This palace is classed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and represents harmony from an architectural point of view. It is considered as “China’s Palace of Versailles”.
You will be taken back to your hotel at the end of the afternoon.
