Discover one of the most fascinating places in the Galápagos archipelago with this excursion to Los Tuneles on Isabela Island!
Starting from Puerto Ayora Port on Santa Cruz Island, you will head to the port of Puerto Villamil or board a boat to Los Tuneles, which is located in the south of the island. During your journey you may see penguins walking on the rocks along the coast. You will pass Union rock, a huge isolated rock in the open sea that serves as a perch for Galápagos birds and sea lions to nap.
You will then arrive at Los Tuneles, a marine sanctuary made up of rocks and geological formations created by volcanic lava. You will start with a walk to familiarise yourself with the area and observe the underwater life in the crystal clear waters. Depending on the season, you may have the opportunity to see sea lions, Pacific turtles or marine iguanas. Put on your snorkelling gear and dive into the crystal clear waters to see the underwater caves and arches. You will be accompanied by marine animals of all kinds during your activity, such as manta rays, lobsters, turtles and sea lions.
You will then head to El Finado lagoon, a hidden mangrove that lies near Los Tuneles. It is the perfect place to snorkel in the deep green waters that contain even more underwater life. You will have the chance to swim with green Pacific turtles and colourful fish. You will also see rare bird species such as the golden eagle. Before ending your excursion, the boat's crew will try to locate the gigantic manta ray that can sometimes be found in the waters of the Galápagos Archipelago.
A packed lunch will be provided at lunchtime. You will enjoy a typical Ecuadorian dish. You will be met at Puerto Ayora Port at the end of your tour.
