Explore Maui's natural wonders on a day trip!
At the start of your adventure, you'll be picked up from your hotel. You'll begin with an ascent through Haleakala National Park, home to more than 1,000 unique plant species, including the famous Silversword, visible nowhere else on Earth. As you hike the 38 miles to the top of the dormant volcano, you'll pass through ancient landscapes and sacred sites, while enjoying views of Maui from the comfort of your mini-coach. The Haleakala Visitor Center, perched at 9,740 feet above sea level, will offer you a breathtaking view of the crater. Don't miss the chance to spot the rare Nene Goose, the iconic Hawaiian goose.
As you climb, you'll experience the changing climate and topography and admire views of Kula, an agricultural region rich in history, once populated by early Portuguese and Chinese immigrants who came to work on the plantations.
Then visit the famous Iao Valley, a lush site steeped in history, having served as a battlefield and burial ground for Hawaiian royalty. You'll be introduced to the majestic Iao Needle, a 1,200-foot verdant rock needle that dominates the valley.
You'll have lunch at Hali'imaile and your guide will take you on a tour and tasting of the Pau Vodka distillery.
Throughout the day, your guide will tell you fascinating tales related to geology, Polynesian culture, and the island's ancient history.
