The Hagia Sophia History and Experience Museum offers an audiovisual experience across 13 rooms. It's the ideal way to learn more about the history of Istanbul and the famous Hagia Sophia, still known as the "Basilica of Saint Sophia".
On arrival at the museum, you'll be fitted with a headset set to the language of your choice (English, Turkish, Spanish, Arabic or Russian), then begin your experience in the museum's first room. For 25 minutes, you'll wander through several darkened rooms, discovering 4D screens that invite you on a sensory journey.
You'll retrace no less than 1700 years of history, from the Roman Empire to the Ottoman Empire, and discover the unusual history of Saint Sophia, torn between basilica and mosque.
The museum also exhibits numerous objects related to Saint Sophia, most of which are being shown for the first time.
