Set sail from Stresa on Lake Maggiore, between Switzerland and Italy, and visit two of the Borromean Islands in a small group accompanied by an expert guide!
On the border between Piedmontand Lombardy, Lake Maggiore is one of the most beautiful in Italy. It's home to the Borromean Islands, which owe their name to the Borromeo family, which still owns two of them. These romantic sites are not to be missed.
You'll embark from the charming resort of Stresa to cross the lake towards Isola Bella (Beautiful Island). Rich in history, it is known for being home to the Borromeo Palace, which we highly recommend visiting (entry fee not included). This baroque palace set in beautiful terraced gardens was built in the 17th century and features rooms decorated with paintings by the masters, including Leonardo da Vinci. Don't forget to wander around the gardens of the palace.
Next, head to Isola Pescatori (fishermen's island),with its fishermen's village making it the most traditional island of the Borromeans. Enjoy some free time to explore at your own pace.
You'll be taken back to Stresa by boat after a half day discovering the treasures of Lake Maggiore.
