Open May 2023, discover the Gilder Center for Science Education and Innovation. This center showcases a year-round vivarium with up to 1,000 free-flying butterflies, a huge insectarium, a gallery devoted to Earth’s most diverse and abundant animal group and home of the largest leafcutter ant colony in the US, and a floor-to-ceiling displays of the Museum’s scientific collections spread out across three levels that help us understand the natural world and global cultures.

Open May 2023, you'll also discover the Gilder Center for Science, Education and Innovation. This new space includes a vivarium with over 1000 butterflies, an insectarium and three floors of scientific collections.

When making your reservation, please choose from one of the following options:

  • Museum only: This ticket allow you access to the Museum and the Rose Center for Earth and Space. (no add-ons)
     
  • Museum + 1 add-on: Entrance to the Museum, the Rose Center for Earth and Space and 1 add-on  of your choice (planetarium space show OR IMAX film OR temporary exhibition).

Good to know

  • Availability: from Wednesday to Sunday (excluding Thanksgiving and Christmas Day, and exceptional cases)
  • Duration: self-guided tour (advised duration between 3 to 4 hours)
  • Opening Times: 10:00am to 5:30pm
  • Address: The museum is located across from Central Park West at 77th Street
     
  • Please note that ticket are open dated. Despite the fact you will be asked to choose a principle date during your reservation, your ticket will be valid for up to 6 months after the chosen date
  • The Space Shows presentations take place every 30 minutes.
  • The IMAX screenings are programmed every hour from 10:30am to 4:30pm.
  • We advise you to visit the museum before midday on the weekend, when it is not as crowded.
  • A cloakroom is available for coats, umbrellas and bags in the Theodore Roosevelt Rotunda and in the Rose Center.
  • Free tours of the exhibitions halls are available every day in English (every hour from 10:15am to 3:15pm).
