The Rome & Vatican Pass – valid for 72 hours – allows you to discover the greatest monuments of the Italian capital and the Holy See, and to travel freely around the city with unlimited access to public transport.

1st day: Coliseum, Roman Forum, + Palatine and the Capitole Museums

Good to know

  • Availability: every day (depending on the opening times/days of the sites visited)
  • The pass is valid for 72 consecutive hours (including the first day of use). For example, if you use the pass for the first time on a Monday at 4pm, Monday will count as a full day of use and the pass will be valid until thursday at 3:59pm
  • Museum opening hours: Museums and monuments in Rome are generally open from 10am to 6pm. However, you are advised to check the opening times of each museum before planning your visit
  • You are asked to indicate a provisional date for your visit when you book, but your pass is not restricted to this date – it will be valid for 72 hours from the first day of use and can be used any time within 12 months of the purchase date
  • When exchanging your voucher for your Pass in Rome, you will be asked for a date for visiting the Sistine Chapelle and Vatican. You will not be able to visit without reserving a time slot with our local partner
  • Colosseum and Galleria Borghese require pre-reservation for date and time slot (phone or online booking - all details on your voucher). It is highly recommended to book at least 10 days in advance
  • Metro times: Rome's metro generally runs between 5:30am and 11:30pm during the week, and until 1:30am on Fridays and Saturdays
  • The Vatican is not open to visitors on religious holidays
  • Access to St Peter's Basilica is limited on Wednesdays due to the Papal Audience and on Sundays due to the Papal Blessing
  • Backpacks, suitcases and voluminous bags are not permitted within the Colosseum
  • The pass for the hop-on, hop-off bus is valid for 72 hours. The service runs from 9am to 6pm

  • The Rome & Vatican Pass does not grant access to temporary exhibitions at the museums
  • When visiting the Vatican, please note that sleeveless garments, clothes which fall above the knee, flip-flops, or otherwise inappropriate clothes are not permitted
  • Entry into St Peter's Basilica is free but with your Rome & Vatican Pass, you can benefit from fast-track access to avoid waiting in line at the entrance (which can take up to 2 hours)
  • The Sistine Chapel is only accessible through the Vatican Museums
  • The pass does not include an audio guide for the tour of the Colosseum
  • People with reduced mobility and invalids (over 74%), as well as an accompanying person, are entitled to free access to the majority of monuments and sites within Rome and the Vatican. Minors under the age of 18 years also benefit from free entry or reduced rates for the majority of sites and monuments included on the pass. Please consult the policy of the individual monument you wish to visit for precise details about admission rates
  • New security checks with airport-style controls have been put in place at the Colosseum. It is possible that visitors, including those in possession of fast-track tickets, experience a waiting time to pass the security check point 


  • The information booklet provided with the pass is in English and Italian
  • After registration, you will receive the confirmation along with a QR code by email. Please exchange the voucher for an official pass at one of the pick up points mentioned on the voucher. You will need to present the first page of your voucher with the QR code.
  • The pass includes 1 free museum entry. This will be applied to the FIRST museum you visit with the pass. For example, if you reserve a visit to the Borghese Gallery, then decide to go to the Capitole Museums first, you will have free entry to the Capitole Museums but will be asked to pay a reduced entry fee for the Borghese Gallery
  • The pass comes in the form of 1 Rome Pass + 1 Vatican Pass + 1 Hop-on/Hop-off Bus Tour Pass + 1 Transport Pass + 1 information booklet + 1 map of Rome
  • Animals not admitted
  • The Rome & Vatican Pass is non-transferable
