Explore the medieval village of Krujë, and discover Shkodra and its namesake lake on this excursion from Tirana!
In the early morning, you'll leave Tirana for the north of the country, making your first stop in the historic town of Krujë, at the foot of the Sari Salltiku mountain.
When you arrive in Krujë, you'll discover the importance of its history, as Krujë was the former capital of Albania and home to many Albanian resistance fighters. Among other things, you'll have the opportunity to visit the town's old bazaar, renowned for its handicrafts.
You'll then visit the Skanderbeg Museum, dedicated to the Albanian national hero Gjergj Kastrioti Skanderbeg, who resisted the Ottoman Empire and was born in Krujë.
At lunchtime, your guide will recommend one or more local addresses, the ideal opportunity to sample Albanian specialties (not included).
In the early afternoon, you'll head for Shkodra, the most important town in northern Albania. Situated on a magnificent plateau in front of the largest lake in the Balkans, Lake Shkodra, and with the Albanian Alps as a backdrop, this town offers a unique and picturesque setting.
You'll make your way to Rozafa Castle, which offers a 360° panoramic view of Lake Shkodra, and discover the astonishing legend surrounding the castle's foundations.
You'll be driven back to Tirana in the late afternoon.
